PP/DS Applications That Consider Shelf Life Data
Use
The following Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS) applications consider shelf life data if you have set the Plng w/ shelf life indicator in the product master:
Heuristics based on the /SAPAPO/HEU_PLAN_STANDARDLOTS algorithm for planning standard lots, such as the standard heuristics SAP_PP_002 and SAP_PP_SL001, can create procurement proposals, which observe the shelf life conditions, to cover product requirements. The heuristic considers the shelf life conditions in the net requirements calculation and when operations are scheduled. If there is not sufficient free capacity at the resources, the shelf life conditions can be violated.
Dynamic pegging only creates pegging relationships between stocks, receipts and requirements whose shelf life data is compatible.
Optimization can consider the maturation time, the shelf life, the required shelf life and the individual shelf life data of batches and sales orders, if pegging relationships exist between the requirements and receipts. SAP therefore recommends that you execute a planning run using a heuristic for planning standard lots with an infinite detailed scheduling strategy before you execute a PP/DS optimization.
Push production tries to take the maturation time of the selected receipt into account. However, under certain circumstances, push production creates a new requirement so late, that the shelf life of the selected receipt is already exceeded. This case can occur, for example, if there is not enough free capacity at the resources.
If you have defined in the detailed scheduling strategy that the system must consider dynamic pegging relationships, the system also considers the shelf life conditions when rescheduling operations, whose input or output components have dynamic pegging relationships between them. The system may only schedule an operation so that the shelf life conditions are not violated and, if necessary, must also reschedule the operation for which the pegging relationship exists.
