This function lets you display a stock overview for packing materials defined using a single-level packing hierarchy and batch classification. For this purpose, the packing material must be specified in a specific characteristic in the batch class of the packaged material.
You have read the document entitled Characteristics for SAP for Mill Products and have classified the packaged materials with a batch class containing the following characteristic.
SAP_MILLCA_PACKAGING (packaging material)
In the initial screen you define the packaging materials for which you want to display a stock overview.
Selection for the total stock and unrestricted-use stock of packaging materials is determined primarily by defining specific materials and an item category group. You can also define the following for packaging materials:
whether packaging materials with zero stock (
Zero Stock
indicator) are displayed
whether packaging materials with stock are displayed if they are not referenced by any batch (
Empty Packaging
indicator).
Display of stocks that are not empty can be restricted by limiting selection to specific plants and packaged materials. You define which stock types are displayed for the packaged materials using the appropriate indicators (batch stocks, special stocks with customers, etc.)
You are then shown an overview of the selected packaging materials. The stocks displayed are accumulated at plant level. The total stock of each packaging material is displayed for the packaged materials for each plant.
Note
The result reflects the current stock situation. Requirements and planned receipts are ignored.
In the stock overview you can display the packaged materials for the corresponding stock types using

In the cable industry cables are generally shipped on
reelsas the packaging material. If a cable is wound onto a reel, the
Packaging Material
characteristic of the cable contains the material number of the reel.
The
Batch-Based Packaging Overview
function lets you display an overview of the stock of full and empty reels. The function determines the number of wound reels for each reel type and calculates the number of empty reels as the difference between the total number of reels and the number of wound reels.
