Configuring Module Gallery CategoriesLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

The Module Gallery displays module templates according to a set of predefined categories, such as All Modules, Administration, Applications, Reports, and Tools. When you create a module template, you assign it one or more Module Gallery categories. For more information, see Configuring General Properties for a Module Template.

Module Gallery categories are defined as folders in the Portal Catalog. You can configure the categories by adding or deleting folders. You can also create nested categories by creating a hierarchical folder structure.

Nested categories are automatically displayed both in the module templates administration screen ( Start of the navigation path Workspace Administration Next navigation step Module Templates End of the navigation path), and in the General Properties screen of a module template. In the module templates administration screen, nested categories are displayed in the Category dropdown list and in the Module Gallery Categories column by using the "|" character to separate between category levels. For example: Administration | HR. In the General Properties screen of a module template, nested categories are displayed in a tree structure.

However, the default Module Gallery displays only one level of categories. To display nested categories, you need to implement a custom Module Gallery that displays the hierarchical category structure.

The following procedures describe how to configure Module Gallery categories, and how to display nested categories in the Module Gallery.

Prerequisites

You are assigned the portal Content Admin role.

Procedure
Configuring Categories
  1. In the portal, navigate to Start of the navigation path Content Administration Next navigation step Portal Content Management End of the navigation path.

  2. In the Portal Catalog, navigate to Start of the navigation path Portal Content Next navigation step Templates Next navigation step Workspace Templates Next navigation step Module Categories End of the navigation path.

    Each folder represents a category.

  3. Configure the Module Gallery categories by adding or deleting folders, as necessary.

You can also create nested categories by creating a hierarchical folder structure.

Displaying Nested Categories in the Module Gallery
  1. Create the required hierarchical folder structure in the Portal Catalog (as described in the procedure above).

  2. Implement a custom Module Gallery that displays the hierarchical category structure.

For more information, see Categorizing Modules in the Module Gallery and Implementing a Custom Module Gallery.
