Use

This topic describes how to use People Explorer using older browsers that do not support HTML5.

  • People Explorer search provides the following capabilities:

    • Search - You can search for an entity. The search results are displayed in the content area.

    • Facets - You can refine the search results by choosing a facet from the list of facets on the left. For example, choosing Start of the navigation path Job Title Next navigation step Developer End of the navigation path shows only the entities whose job title is Developer.

Choosing the facet link refines the search for the entire set of entities, whereas selecting the checkbox of a facet keeps narrowing down the current subset of entities.

    • Sort by - You can sort the search results according to relevance or by name, using the button at the top right of the content area.

    • Clear all - You can clear all results from the content area.

    • Hover card - Hover over an entity to display entity details, including a photo (or avatar icon if a photo does not exist). Clicking the entity name opens the full profile of the entity. The Explore button enables you to explore the relationships of the entity.

  • My Profile - Enables you to view the details of your People Explorer profile, and explore your relationships.

If the People Explorer search provider and suggestion provider have been configured by the portal administrator, you can open the People Explorer application by searching for People Explorer content in the portal search field.

Exploring Relationships

People Explorer displays the relationships of an entity as a graph, in which the currently selected entity is at the center. You can choose a different entity, to make it the center of the graph and view its relationships.

At the top left side of the graph, select the type of relationship to view.

At the top right side of the graph, you can use the toolbar buttons to navigate Back and Forward, or return to your starting point.
