You can transport workspaces or workspace templates by creating a portal transport package.

To create a transport package you select the workspaces and workspace templates to include in the package. You can search for items by name, by owner, and by type, shared or personal.

You can search for and transport the following types of shared workspaces: published, draft, reopened, closed.

Prerequisites

  • You are assigned the portal System Admin role.

  • You are assigned the Workspace System Administration role.

  • Modules templates are not added to workspace transport packages. Transport module templates before transporting workspaces. For more information, see Transporting Module Templates.

  • When transporting workspaces, make sure that the value of the Transport Mode property of the transport package remains data.

  • To ensure that the workspace transport package includes both the list of favorite workspaces (My Favorites), and all the workspaces listed under Member of (including public workspaces), you must customize the Personalization Transport Settings of the transport package by selecting the users or groups for which you want to transport this data.

  • Starting from SAP enhancement package 1 SP07 for SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.0, the workspace transport feature has an additional button, Create Transport Package and Export, which brings you directly to the export function of the portal transport tool.

    • The button is displayed only for users who have permissions to perform an export.

    • This option is enabled only if portal_content/com.sap.pct/admin.templates/iviews/editors/com.sap.portal.export has the attribute com.sap.portal.admintools.export.reserved and its value is enabled.

    • When not defined in the PCD, the attribute com.sap.portal.admintools.export.reserved is defined in the PCM and its value is enabled.

    • Permissions need to be specified for the following folders:

      pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/admin.templates/iviews

      pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/admin.templates/iviews/editors

Note Note

To view properties or personalization settings of a transport package, navigate to   System Administration   Transport   Transport Packages   Export   and then, under Portal Content, select the transport package and open the properties or permission settings.

Procedure

  1. In the portal, navigate to   Workspace System Administration   Workspace Transport  .

  2. Under Select Items to Transport:

    1. Choose either the Workspaces or the Workspace templates button.

    2. Specify search criteria using the following fields:

      1. Name – Enter a string to search for.

      2. Owner – For workspaces only, you can specify a list of owners, to refine the search results. For more information, see Selecting Workspace Owners to Refine Search Results below.

      3. Type – Specify the type of workspaces or workspace templates, by choosing Shared or Personal.

        Note Note

        When searching for personal workspaces or workspace templates, you must specify the owners.

    3. Choose Search.

      The search results are listed in the Available Items table.

  3. Use the add and remove arrow buttons to create, in the Selected Items table, the list of items to include in the transport package.

    Note Note

    In the Available Items table, the Selected column indicates which items have already been added to the Selected Items table.

  4. Repeat steps 2 – 3‎, until you have added all the items to the Selected Items table.

  5. Under Workspace Transport Package:

    1. In the Package Name field, enter a name for the transport package.

      You can specify the name with a folder structure, and the folders will be created if they do not exist at the transport packages central location. For example, My Project/My Folder/Pack1.

    2. Choose Create Transport Package.

      A message informs you where the package was created.

Note Note

In SAP enhancement package 1 SP05 for SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.0, you need to navigate to the portal transport tool:   System Administration   Transport   Transport Packages   Export  . In the Portal Catalog, you locate the transport package under   Portal Content   Workspace Transport Packages  .

Starting from SAP enhancement package 1 SP07 for SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.0, there is an additional button, Create Transport Package and Export, which brings you directly to the export function of the portal transport tool.

Selecting Workspace Owners to Refine Search Results
  1. In the portal, navigate to   Workspace System Administration   Workspace Transport  .

  2. Under Select Items to Transport, choose Select.

    The Select Owner dialog box appears.

  3. Search for owners using the search field.

    The search results are listed in the Search Results table.

  4. Use the Add and Remove buttons to create the desired list of owners in the Selected Owners table.

  5. Choose Done to add the owner in the Selected Users table to the Owner field.
