Working in administrative mode allows you to make changes to an application on the Customizing level. Changes made to an application on this level remain unaffected when a new release or enhancement package is imported.

The system indicates that you are working on the Customizing level of an application by displaying a striped, orange and yellow banner just above the title bar of the application.

Activities

If the parameter FPM_CONFIG_EXPERT=X is included in your user settings, you can call up applications in administrative mode in the following ways:

  • Include a Floorplan Manager (FPM)URL parameter to an application at runtime

In the address bar of the browser window of an application at runtime, add the parameter sap-config-mode=x to the end of the address, that is, enter &sap-config-mode=x and press ENTER.

The application is opened in administrator mode; the Customizing Mode banner is displayed above the title bar of the application.

  • Run an application explicitly in administrative mode

To do this, proceed as follows:

    1. Open transaction SE80.

    2. In the Object Navigator navigate to the relevant Applic.Configurations folder and double-click an application configuration inside it.

    3. In the main menu bar, choose   Web Dynpro Configuration   Test   Execute in Administration Mode  .

The application is opened in administrator mode; the Customizing Mode banner is displayed above the title bar of the application.

Note Note

In the NetWeaver Business Client and NetWeaver Portal environments, you can activate administrator mode permanently by entering the FPM URL FPM_CONFIG_EXPERT=A in your user settings.

End of the note.
