Creating an Example-Based Taxonomy
You create an example-based taxonomy to be able to classify documents on the basis of example documents. For more information, see Classifying Documents.
You have two options when you create an example-based taxonomy — you can either create it from scratch or use an existing folder hierarchy.
Create an index |
|
Create a new folder hierarchy |
Use an existing folder hierarchy |
Assign the data sources that contain the relevant example documents to the index |
Train the categories of the taxonomy using the existing folder hierarchy (automatic assignment of data sources to index) |
Create a new folder hierarchy |
|
Train the categories of the taxonomy manually using example documents |
|
Reindex by data source |
|
Assign further data sources to the index (optional) |
|
Result: A taxonomy is created. |

You have two options when you create an example-based taxonomy:
Creating a taxonomy using new folder hierarchy
Use this procedure if you want to create an example-based taxonomy and corresponding folder structure from scratch. That is, you do not want to use an existing folder hierarchy for the taxonomy. For more information, see Creating an Example-Based Taxonomy from Scratch.
Creating a taxonomy using an existing folder hierarchy
Use this procedure if you want to create an example-based taxonomy based on an existing folder hierarchy. For more information, see Creating an Example-Based Taxonomy Using a Folder Hierarchy.
You use the Taxonomy Trainer to carry out the initial training of example-based taxonomies. You use this function after creating a new taxonomy folder. For more information, see Taxonomy Trainer.
