Procedure documentationChanging the Communication Ports Locate this document in the navigation structure

You can change the pre-configured set of communication ports of the SAP NetWeaver Application Server Java (AS Java) using the SAP Management Console (SAP MC).

If some of these ports are already in use by other processes running on your machine, you may need to change the ports of the conflicting processes. If this is not possible, you may change some of the AS Java ports.

Recommendation Recommendation

We recommend that you do not change any of the default communication ports unless there are other processes on your machine that use the same communication ports.

End of the recommendation.

Procedure

  • To change the Java instance ports, proceed as follows:

    1. Open the Java instance profile located in directory <Drive>:\usr\sap\<SAPSID>\SYS\profile (Windows) /usr/sap/<SAPSID>/SYS/profile (UNIX) with a text editor. The Java instance profile is named as follows: <SAPSID>_<instance name>_<host>.

    2. You can edit the values of the following ports:

      • HTTP port - the port opened on the ICM for establishing connections using the HTTP protocol.

      • P4 port - the port opened on the ICM for establishing connections using the P4 protocol.

      • IIOP port - the port opened on the ICM for establishing connections using the IIOP protocol.

      • Telnet port - the port opened on the ICM for establishing connections using the Telnet protocol.

    Note Note

The default values depend on the installation type of your system.

    End of the note.
  • To change the Message Server port, proceed as follows:

    1. Open the Central services instance profile located in directory <Drive>:\usr\SAP\<SAPSID>\SYS\profile (Windows) /usr/sap/<SAPSID>/SYS/profile (UNIX) with a text editor. The Central services instance profile is named as follows: <SAPSID>_<Central services instance name>_<host> (for example, CE1_SCS03_myhostname).

    2. Change the following value: rdisp/msserv_internal
