You create sites to make their corresponding local datasets available for replication. In addition, you can then assign sites to an organization.

Prerequisites

You have selected the object type Site in the selection list Object Type.

Procedure

Perform the following steps:

  1. To create a new site, choose the   Object   Create   function from the application menu, or the corresponding icon from the application toolbar.

  2. Enter a unique name for the site in the Object Information area, describe the site (optional), and select Site Type. Choose Site Attributes to select the attributes corresponding to your site type.

    Example Example

    • Connection group and transfer group for data exchange with a mobile site

    • RFC destination for an ERP site; here you must choose Get Values to call up the relevant values.

    End of the example.

If you have selected an existing site in the navigation window so that you can change it, all this data is already displayed. You can now change the name and the description of the site. Depending on the site type, you can also change the attributes, if required.

  3. Save the site you have just created, and choose the tab page Subscriptions in the subarea Dependent Information. Then choose the symbol Assign (Assign), if you want to assign one or more subscriptions to the site. A dialog box is displayed, containing a table of the available subscriptions for the respective site type.

  4. In the dialog box, select the subscriptions that you want. To do this select either individual subscriptions (by clicking the corresponding buttons in the first column on the left), or choose Select All (Select All), and then choose Copy. The selected subscriptions are now displayed on the Assigned Subscriptions tab page. If you do not want to select any subscriptions, choose Cancel.

If you want to cancel the assignment of previously selected subscriptions, select the respective subscriptions on the tab page Subscriptions, by clicking the corresponding buttons in the first column on the left, or choose Select All (Select All), and then select the icon Remove Line (Remove Line). The selected subscriptions are then removed from the tab page with the assigned subscriptions.

    Caution Caution

If the subscription is based on a publication of the type Simple Bulk or Simple Intelligent, the site does not contain any data if the assignment is canceled. The data is supplied again when a new assignment is made. The data that has accrued for the site in the meantime is lost, and cannot be reconstructed by the CRM middleware.

Using indirect assignment, you can also make newly assigned subscriptions available to other sites within your organizational structure. You can also remove subscriptions whose assignment you have deleted, from other sites within your organizational structure.

    End of the caution.
  5. If you want to assign one or more employees to the site, choose the tab page Assigned Employees in the subarea Dependent Information, and then select the icon Assign (Assign). The system displays a dialog box containing a table of the available employees.

  6. In the dialog box, select the employees that you want. To do this select either individual employees (by clicking the corresponding buttons in the first column on the left), or choose Select All (Select All), and then Copy. The selected employees are now displayed on the corresponding tab page. If you do not want to select any employees choose Cancel.

If you want to cancel the assignment of previously selected employees, select the respective employees on the tab page Employees, by clicking the corresponding buttons in the first column on the left, or choose Select All (Select All), and then select the icon Remove Line (Remove Line). The selected employees are then removed from the tab page with the assigned employees.

  7. If you want to assign your site to an organization, choose the tab page Organizations. You can then assign one or more organizations to the site, using the icon Assign (Assign). The system displays a dialog box containing a table of all the available organizations.

  8. In the dialog box, select the organizations that you want. To do this select either individual organizations (by clicking the corresponding buttons in the first column on the left), or all organizations (using the icon Select All (Select All)), and then choose Copy. The selected organizations are now displayed on the Organizations tab page. If you do not want to select any organizations, press Cancel.

If you want to cancel the assignment of organizations that have already been selected, select these organizations on the tab page Organizations by clicking the corresponding buttons in the first column on the left (or select all organizations by using Select All (Select All)). Then choose the icon Remove Line (Remove Line). The organizations selected in this way are then removed from the tab page Organizations.

  9. To define one or more replacement periods with replacements for the site, choose the tab page Replacement Rules and select the icon Assign (Assign). See also: Creating Replacement Rules for Sites.

  10. To create the new site or to change the existing one, choose the   Object   Save   function, or the corresponding icon in the application toolbar.

You can view the queues that belong to the selected site, using the tab page Queues.

You can delete an existing site by using the   Object   Delete   function, or the corresponding icon in the application toolbar.

Note Note

When a site is deleted, its assignments to organizational units, employees, and all assigned subscriptions are also deleted.

End of the note.
