Administration of the Type of Digital Asset 
You use the assigned type of the digital asset to categorize your digital assets. Only one digital asset type can be assigned to each digital asset.
Note
When creating a new digital asset type, a class whose name starts with CRM_DAM_* is created in the classification system (CA-CL).
You must not delete these automatically created classes.
You must make various settings that affect the digital asset type in the portal application for the administration of digital asset types.
Prerequisites
You have created the taxonomies.
Activities
The following can be assigned to each type of digital asset:
One or several taxonomies
Taxonomy properties dependent on the type of digital asset, for example, whether the digital asset must contain at least one value assignment for a taxonomy characteristic (mandatory field in the taxonomy).
Characteristics
Note
Characteristics can only be used once, either in the characteristics list or in one of the taxonomies.
Hence not all combinations of taxonomies and characteristics are possible.
According to your selection in administration of the type of digital asset, you can choose from a limited list of taxonomies and characteristics.
Clarify in the preliminary stages which characteristics are standalone, and which ones are hierarchically dependent on others.
Standalone characteristics can be assigned directly to the type of digital asset, whereas hierarchically dependent characteristics are assigned to the type of digital asset by using taxonomies. For more information, see also “Taxonomy Definition” at Configuration.
