This workflow gives an overview of the steps involved in creating layouts in Mobile System Maintenance (MSY).

Process

  1. Create a layout

    You can create a layout using either Microsoft Word or Microsoft Notepad.

    You enter the information about a layout, such as the name, shortcuts, type, or subtype. These details help you to easily identify and maintain the layout.

  2. Assign a transaction to the layout

    You assign a transaction to the layout to fetch the values for the elements in a layout.

  3. Identify and create the elements within the layout

    You include the relevant text elements, data elements, decision elements, and other layouts (if required) in the layout.

  4. Structure the layout

    For more information, see Layout Design.

Result

You have designed a layout that can be used to generate a document such as a report. To generate this document from a mobile application you must integrate the layout using Mobile Application Studio by performing the following activities:

  • Create a pushbutton on the appropriate tile.

  • Write a method to call the document from the pushbutton.
