Business Package for PLM Web User Interface

  • You have activated the business function /PLMU/WEB_UI: PLM Web User Interface.

  • To display long material numbers, you have activated the business functions DIMP_SDUD: Discrete Industries - Mill Products and MGV_LAMA: Long Material Number.

  • To display material versions, you have activated the business functions MGV_LAMA: Long Material Number.

  • You have implemented NetWeaver Embedded Search 7.02 and Search and Classification (TREX) 7.10 to be able to use the enhanced search functionality.

  • Customizing for the Web UI of SAP PLM can be found under   Logistics - General   Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)   PLM Web User Interface  .

Features

If you activate the business function /PLMU/WEB_UI_2: PLM Web User Interface 2, the following new functions are available to you:

  • Redlining in documents on the PLM Web UI

Using redlining, you can create comments for a document, such as what changes are to be made to a document. The system saves the comments in the document.

  • Digital mockup

Digital mockup is integrated into the Web UI for product structures. Different departments can access a three-dimensional product model and display it with all components in the viewer.

  • Integrated change management

You can use the integrated change management to structure the change process more efficiently. You can change a product by doing the following:

    • Configure a PLM-specific engineering record

    • Create an engineering record for multiple PLM objects

    • Define the change scope

    • Create one or several change master records from one engineering record

    • Link the engineering record with the associated change master records

    • Synchronize data between engineering records and change master record

    • Control and monitor changes to objects from the change scope

  • Long material number (see Long Material Number)

The material number has been extended to 40 characters. You can also create and edit long material numbers if you have installed the PLM Web UI in a "demilitarized zone" outside your company firewall.

  • Visibility of the manufacturer part number in the material master (see Manufacturer Parts)

All valid manufacturer parts of a material or BOM can be displayed in the linked material or in the BOM on the PLM Web UI, as well as in the object navigator. You can set up the source of the manufacturer part information in Customizing, for example, the purchasing view of a material.

  • Enhanced search (see Search)

Classification is integrated in the enhanced search for PLM objects, such as material or document (see Classification on the Web UI).

  • Parameter effectivity in change management (see Change Number on the Web UI)

In change management, you can specify the parameter effectivity for change numbers. You can filter data using parameter effectivity in BOMs and product structures (see Frequently Asked Questions: Parameter Effectivity).

  • Variant configuration

In product structure and assembly management (see Variant Configuration), you can create a configuration on the characteristic value assignment screen (see Characteristic Value Assignment Screen on the Web UI) with the PLM Web UI, to simulate the product structure.

You can use the dependency editor with the PLM Web UI to enter global object dependencies (see Dependency Editor on the Web User Interface). The PLM Web UI also enables you to assign global and local object dependencies to the BOM and product structure.

  • Enhancement of the object navigator (see Object Navigator)

Views are available for product structures and product assemblies for the change number, document, and access control context as central objects, under Linked Nodes and Linked Variants.

The object navigator has been enhanced as follows for the material as the central object:

    • The Manufacturer Part Number view is displayed and contains manufacturer part numbers that were assigned to the material that is the central object.

    • If the PLM, Coexistence of iPPE and BOM business function is active, the object navigator can display all structures for the material that is the central object in the Structure view:

      Material BOMs and their relations

Product structures and their relations; if the material that is the central object was assigned to a variant (product variant or product item variant)

The Product Family node is displayed if the material was assigned to a product variant.

The Product Item node is displayed if the material was assigned to a product item variant.

Product assemblies and their relations; if the material that is the central object was assigned to a variant

New view layouts for displaying relations are available for product structures and product assemblies as central objects.

  • Enhancements to engineering desktop (see Engineering Desktop)

The enhanced engineering desktop comprises the following functions that can be called directly from the CAD interface:

    • Mass change of documents

    • Display and load options, for example, As Saved and Latest

    • Display of classification data on the user interface

    • Handling of large assemblies

      • Support for lightweight files, checking out lightweight representations

      • Support for working with incomplete structures, partial loading of assemblies (metadata only)

    • Integration with the Document Browser or SAP Easy Document Management

    • Provision of services that are integrated in the CAD interface and can be launched from there

    • Support for title blocks

    • Integration with Business Context Viewer

    • Improved search handling

    • Support for CAD-specific components

      • Layouts

      • Generics and variants

      • Suppressed components

      • Support for external references

      • Support for standard parts

      • Support for family tables (generics and instances)

    • Navigation to the product structure

    • Reset modified flag

    • Deletion of document info records

    • Save all changes

    • Attach additional files during check-in

    • Update properties during check-in

    • Handle instances in the document structure

  • Access control management for confidential documents with exclusive access control lists (see Authorizations and Access Control Context (PLM-WUI-APP-ACC))

You can control access to confidential documents by means of access control lists in exclusive mode. In this mode, the system only takes authorizations into account that were defined by means of access control lists. Authorizations that were defined by means of access control contexts are not taken into account.

  • Collection of PLM-relevant nodes in Customizing

In Customizing, you can find all PLM-relevant settings under   Logistics - General   Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)  .

    Existing paths are still valid.

  • Collection of PLM-relevant topics in SAP Library

You can find all PLM-relevant topics in SAP Library under   SAP ERP Central Component   Logistics   Product Lifecycle Management  .

    Existing paths are still valid.

    Note Note

    End of the note.

With this business function, you do not activate any additional menu entries. If you want to call the PLM Web UI from the back-end system, you have to create role-specific user menus.
