Worklist, Environment, and
Favorites
The work areas in the modeling environment for Variant Configuration also include the worklist, which is divided into the Environment and Favorites folders.
The Environment consists of a list of model objects. You can use this list as a pool for loading objects from the database that do not belong to the model.
In the Favorites folder, you can load any objects of your choice, for example, objects that you want to use more than once.
The input help for the source code editor also uses the worklist to create dependencies. Only objects that are located in the worklist can be included in the input help proposed by the editor.
You can load the following objects to the Environment list:
· Knowledge-base objects
· Variant condition keys
· Characteristics and object characteristics
· Classes
· Object dependencies
· Variant functions
· Variant tables
You can also use the Environment list to create the following objects:
· Preconditions, selection conditions, and procedures
· Constraint nets
· Variant tables
· Variant functions
You can assign the following objects from the Environment to the model tree using drag and drop:
· Classes
· Preconditions, selection conditions, and procedures
· Constraint nets
The Environment is a temporary list that is not saved with the model. When you load a material in the modeling environment, the system initially includes the following objects in the Environment list:
· The objects that are located at the first level below the material, such as classes or configuration profiles
· The object characteristics for sales order processing and BOMs – if these exist
· The objects in the Favorites list
The Favorites are a user-specific list that is saved automatically every time you edit the model. For this reason, the objects managed in the Favorites list always appear, irrespective of the material loaded in the material environment.
To explode
the entire model and copy all the objects in the model to the Environment list, choose
.
To load individual objects or object groups from the database to the Environment, select the relevant folder (for example, Dependencies) and use the context menus and the dialog boxes that are then displayed. Follow the same procedure for objects that you want to create from the Environment.
To open the detailed view for an object, double-click the name of the object.
Select the objects in the Environment that you want to add to your Favorites and use the context menu. Alternatively, select a Favorites folder and use the context menu to add a matching object.
To remove an object from your Favorites, select it and use the context menu.
