Function documentationSafety Stock (PASS)

In SAP APO you can specify a safety margin that is taken into consideration by the availability check, to ensure that a sales order does not completely deplete the stock. This safety margin can be

  • A standard safety stock that is entered by means of standard safety stock planning

  • A parameter-dependent ATP safety stock (PASS)

In the sales order you can access the PASS for emergency sales orders.

Integration

The PASS is maintained in SAP APO as a time series. It consists of a percentage of the safety stock (SS) plus a percentage of the forecasted monthly demand (FMD):

PASS = SS x __% + FMD x __ %.

Prerequisites

In addition to CRM Enterprise, the following minimum system requirements apply:

  • SAP SCM 5.0

  • SAP ECC 6.0

The system configuration for service parts management is active. You can find more information in the SAP Implementation Guide (IMG) under Start of the navigation path Customer Relationship Management Next navigation step Transactions Next navigation step Basic Settings Next navigation step Activate System Configuration for Service Parts Management End of the navigation path.

Features

The PASS can block part of the stock, so that, for example, a normal sales order or a transfer order does not use up the stock. The availability check can take the PASS into account, thus ensuring that the safety stock is available for rush orders. You can then access this stock for a rush order.

Activities

You can use the following PASS parameters:

  • Calculate – FMD and SS Protected if No Time Series Exists

  • Calculate – Stock Not Protected if No Time Series Exists

  • Do Not Calculate

You can preassign the PASS parameter on the account overview page for a sold-to party in the Sales Area Data assignment block. This value is transferred to the sales order at header- and item level. You can overwrite it there.

For a rush order item, for example, you remove the PASS parameter from the Safety Stock field and leave it as Do Not Calculate.
