Rounding Quantities for the Availability Check
The rounding of requirement quantities is performed so that you can deliver as many different pack sizes as possible, to simplify storage, packaging, and transportation.
In the availability check with SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization (SAP APO), the system can round requested quantities in accordance with the various pack sizes while it performs product and location determination. SAP APO returns the results of the availability check to the sales order in SAP CRM in the form of rounded quantities.
In addition to SAP CRM, the following minimum system requirements apply:
SAP SCM 5.0
SAP ECC 6.0
The system configuration for service parts management is active. You can find more information on this in the Implementation Guide (IMG) under .
You have set up rounding in SAP APO.
You can find more information in the documentation for SAP Supply Chain Management (SAP SCM) under .
When rounding takes place in SAP APO, the system returns the following results to SAP CRM:
Rounded requested quantity
This is reported under Order Quantity
. You can find the quantity originally requested by the customer under Orig. Order Qty
.
If an item has more than one schedule line, the system accumulates the rounded requirement quantities for all schedule lines and displays them in the item's Order Quantity
field.
Rounded confirmed quantity
This is shown in the Confirmed Quantity
schedule line, that is to say, the confirmed quantities can reflect the rounding.
If an item has more than one schedule line, the system accumulates the rounded confirmation quantities for all schedule lines and displays them in the item's Confirmed Qty
field.
In the sales order you can control whether you want SAP APO to round the confirmed quantity during the availability check using the Round Req. Quantity
field.
You can preset the Round Req. Quantity
field on the account overview page for the sold-to party in the Sales Area Data
assignment block under Available-to-Promise (Availability Check)
.
When you create the sales order, the system transfers the value from the account data to the sales order details.
When you create a sales order item, the system copies the field value from the details to the item overview.
You can overwrite this field value in the sales order at header- and item level.
If there are any subitems, they inherit the field value from the higher-level item. You cannot change the field value in a subitem that results from an availability check (for example, in a kit component, or a subitem that results from the rules-based availability check).
Note
The subitems in one-to-many substitutions can be rounded, but kit components cannot.
Note that you can also maintain unit conversion factors in the product master record. If these conversion factors do not agree with the conversion factors used in SAP APO, then you may see results in the sales order that look as though they are not rounded.
