Creating and Editing of Characteristic
Groups
You can use the modeling environment for Variant Configuration to create characteristic groups for the interface design.
For information about using and configuring characteristic groups, see Interface Design - Overview.
To create characteristic groups, you need a configuration profile for the material and an interface design for the configuration profile.
You can edit characteristic groups with the context menu in the model tree and the detailed view.
New characteristic groups do not contain any characteristics yet. To assign characteristics, you can use the detailed view or the context menu.
In the context menu for a new characteristic group, you can
· Assign characteristics to the group
· Delete the characteristic group
The characteristics in the group are listed under the characteristic group.
You cannot edit the General Group of type Tab that is automatically created with the interface design. This group contains all the characteristics that are not assigned to another group of the type Tab, for example, characteristics that are classified in groups of the type Pushbutton or Sequence.

You can use the modeling environment to create a characteristic group as follows:

1. Select the interface design in the model tree and use the context menu to create a characteristic group.
2. Enter a name and description for the new characteristic group.
3. Use the context menu for the new characteristic group in the model tree or the detailed view to assign the required characteristics to the group.
