Function documentation Analysis of a Runtime Version  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You can use the modeling environment for Variant Configuration to check whether the knowledge base for a model is suitable for creating a runtime version. In this way, you can determine whether the object dependency is transferred without errors when the runtime version is generated, for example, or whether the process will be terminated.

Prerequisites

Note the prerequisites that the model must satisfy before it can be used for configuration with the Configuration Engine.

Features

The runtime version analysis simulates the generation of a runtime version based on the current status of the knowledge base and the parameters that you specify when you create or call the runtime version, such as the BOM information and the validity date.

When you create a runtime version, the validity date is set by default to the date on which you edit the model. If you did not select a specific date when you loaded the model in the modeling environment, the date is set to today’s date.

You can overwrite this date if necessary. When you maintain master data with Engineering Change Management, you can specify a date to check whether the knowledge base is suitable for generating a runtime version for this date.

For master data without Engineering Change Management, the analysis always refers to the current data as stored on the database - irrespective of the validity date you use.

The result of the analysis report lists the following:

·        General information, such as the material, runtime version, and validity date.

·        Warnings if, for example, certain settings for the configuration profile in the configuration cannot be used with the Configuration Engine.

·        Error messages if, for example, certain object dependencies cannot be transferred to the runtime version.

·        Messages regarding terminations that would occur if the runtime versions are generated.

·        Statistical information, such as the number and type of dependencies in the runtime version.

Detailed View

If you want to include any changes you have made to the model in the analysis, save the model before you start the analysis. If you want to run the analysis for a specific key date, enter the required date or use the input help.

Choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text to start the analysis.

The analysis is carried out and the results are displayed in a table. For more information about a message, choose This graphic is explained in the accompanying text or double-click the message.
