Object documentation Scheduler Tasks  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Definition

In Knowledge Management, scheduler tasks are automatically started and executed at predefined times by the scheduler service. The tasks originate from different CM applications and services.

Use

The following scheduler tasks are used in KM:

      Scheduler Tasks for Time-Dependent Publishing

      Content Exchange Task Queue Reader

      Index Service Task Queue Reader

      Polling Scheduler Task

      Garbage Collector Scheduler Tasks

      Report Scheduler Task

Depending on your system installation, you must heed the following relationships:

Single Node Installation (there is only one content management system.)

In the case of a simple installation with only one CM system, you do not have to assign the only available CM system to the scheduler tasks. All scheduler tasks are automatically run on this CM system. A manual assignment does not change this.

Multiple Node Installation (there is more than one CM system.)

In an environment with more than one CM system, you must assign one (any) CM system in the cluster to each scheduler task.

Do not assign a scheduler task to more than one CM system at the same time. In the configuration of a scheduler task, there must be only one entry in the CM Systems parameter.

Recommendation

To balance the load, we recommend assigning all scheduler tasks to one dedicated CM system that runs separate from the load balancer. This separation removes the load caused by running the scheduler tasks from the other nodes and makes them available solely for your users.

Integration

You can use the component monitor to display an overview of all nodes in the load-balancing environment with the assigned scheduler tasks. Choose Services ® Scheduler in the component monitor. If a task is not assigned to a node (CM system), a red symbol is displayed. If this is the case, check the configuration of the corresponding task.

You can use the scheduler tasks report to display all scheduler tasks in the load balancing environment and distribute them to other CM systems if necessary.
