Procedure documentation Define Disallowed Shift Lengths Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

Left on its own, the system might create shifts with lengths that do not meet business requirements. By defining specific times for shifts you create the shift length parameters that the system follows when creating schedules. Use this procedure to define disallowed shift lengths to ensure that shifts created by the system meet corporate, governmental and union regulations regarding shift lengths. The system will not schedule shifts of the length(s) you specify in this procedure.

Procedure

       1.      You access the activity through either:

¡         The SAP IMG, by choosing the path SAP IMG ® Customer Relationship Management ® Workforce Deployment ® Retail and Interaction Center Workforce Deployment ® Schedule Settings ® Shift Characteristics ® Define Disallowed Shift Lengths

¡        The SAP Easy Access menu, by entering the transaction code CRM_WFM_SM.

You see the initial page for the site maintenance tool.

                                                  i.       At Profile Type, display the selections and choose Schedule Settings / Parameters.

ii.       At Sub-Type, display the selections and choose Disallowed Shift Lengths.

                                               iii.       Choose Search.

iv.       Click Disallowed Shift Lengths, the topmost node of the tree, with the secondary mouse button and choose Create.

You see the Create New Parameter dialog box.

                                                 v.       Enter a Profile ID, which is the name of the disallowed shift lengths definition the system displays in the tree view.

vi.       Enter a date defining the first day for which the disallowed shift lengths definition is valid.

                                              vii.       Choose Continue.

       2.      You see the disallowed shift lengths parameters page where you enter the following information:

Field

Description

Use / Notes

Disallowed Shift Id

The unique identifier for the disallowed shift length definition that you entered at the Create New Parameter dialog box.

Start Date

The beginning date for the disallowed shift length definition that you entered at the Create New Parameter dialog box.

The system considers the disallowed shift length definition valid for the range defined by the start and end dates. Note that date entries may not overlap.

End Date

An end date.

If no end date is planned for this disallowed shift length definition, enter 12/31/9999 to specify an open-ended validity range.

Short Text

A short description of the disallowed shift length.

The system uses this for any displays or drop down lists.

Disallowed Length

The length of the shift, in hours, that should be disallowed.

The shift length you enter must be in quarter hour intervals such as 10.25, 10.50, and 10.75. This represents the total shift duration, including any meal or break time that might be applied to the scheduled shift.

Start Time

Defines the beginning of the time range during which the shift length will be prohibited.

The shift length will be enforced for the time defined by the Start Time and End Time fields.

End Time

Defines the end of the time range during which the shift length will be prohibited.

This value may not overlap with the daybreaker.

Applies on Mon

Applies on Tues

Each check box field represents a day of the schedule week.

Choose the check box field to indicate that the disallowed shift length is applicable for that day.

Long Text

A long description of the disallowed shift length.

Note

When entering the Start Time and End Time, either enter the times into the field or choose input help to display the Choose Time dialog box. When at the Choose Time dialog bog, choose the clock icon to switch your entries between 12-hour format (using am and pm) and 24-hour format (where 2:00pm is 14:00). Regardless of the format in which you entered times, the system displays them in 24-hour format. You must enter times in 15-minute granularity. You enter midnight as 00:00 not 24:00.

       3.      Save your entries.

Result

You have defined the disallowed shift lengths and can assign them to your location. For more information, see Assign Parameter Settings to Locations.
