Use

The system uses shift templates when creating employee shifts. You use this procedure to define shift templates.

Procedure

       1.      You access the activity through either:

¡        The SAP IMG, by choosing the path SAP IMG ® Customer Relationship Management ® Workforce Deployment ® Retail and Interaction Center Workforce Deployment ® Schedule Settings ® Define Shift Templates

¡        The SAP Easy Access menu, by entering the transaction code CRM_WFM_SM.

You see the initial page for the site maintenance tool.

                                                  i.       At Profile Type, display the selections and choose Schedule Rules / Parameters.

ii.       At Sub-Type, display the selections and choose Shift Template.

                                               iii.       Choose Search.

iv.       Click Shift Template, the topmost node of the tree, with the secondary mouse button and choose Create.

You see the Create New Parameter dialog box.

                                                 v.       Enter a Profile ID, which is the name of the shift template definition the system displays in the tree view.

                                               vi.       Choose Continue.

       2.      You see the Set Shifts Templates table where you enter the set shifts key by entering the following information:

Field

Description

Use / Notes

Set Shift Temp. ID

A unique identifier for the shift template that you entered at the Create New Parameter dialog box.

Short Description

Enter a short description of the shift template.

The system uses this for any displays or drop down lists.

Long Description

Enter a long description of the shift template.

       3.      Save your entries and choose the record you just saved.

       4.      You see the Set Shift Time Interval table.

       5.      Choose New Entries.

       6.      Define the shift template information by defining the following fields in the Set Shift Time Interval table:

Field

Description

Use / Notes

Shift Type

Choose a shift type from the dropdown list.

Common shift types include Fixed or Set.

Start Day

Choose the first day in the schedule week for which the shift is valid.

The system considers the shift valid for the time interval defined by Start Day and End Day.

End Day

Select the last day for which the shift is valid.

End Day must either be the same as Start Day (in which case the shift is valid only for that day) or must immediately follow Start Day (in which case the shift is valid only for those two days). Note that in 24-Hour Environments, Start Day and End Day must be the same.

Note

When defining the date range based on the Start Day and End Day, you must not enter an interval of non-consecutive days, like Wednesday to Friday. Rather, in order to define a multiday (but not universal) validity period, you must separately define individual day pairs. For instance, to define a shift template for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, you must define distinct templates that are valid for Wednesday to Wednesday; Thursday to Thursday and Friday to Friday.

Field

Description

Use / Notes

Start Time

Enter the time defining the beginning of the shift.

The Start Time must not be earlier than the daybreaker, and may not overlap with the End Time.

End Time

Enter the time defining the end of the shift.

The End Time must not be later than the daybreaker, and may not overlap with the Start Time.

Note

When entering the Start Time and End Time, either enter the times into the field or choose input help to display the Choose Time dialog box. When at the Choose Time dialog box, choose the clock icon to switch your entries between 12-hour format (using am and pm) and 24-hour format (where 2:00pm is 14:00). Regardless of the format in which you entered times, the system displays them in 24-hour format. You must enter times in 15-minute granularity. You enter midnight as 00:00 not 24:00.

The system considers any days with no entry to be Unavailable. In addition, there may be multiple entries for each field in the Set Shift Time Interval table.

Caution

You must define valid shifts for each day of the week.

       7.      Save your entries.

Result

You have assigned shift templates and can assign them to your location. For more information, see Assign Parameter Settings to Locations.
