Define Work Area Reluctance
Profiles
Managers can assign employees to multiple work areas. During this process, they rank the work areas from 1 (most important) to 20 (least important). When creating the schedule, the system determines to which work area these employees are scheduled based on the employees’ work area reluctance profile. You use this procedure to define work area reluctance profiles.
Work area reluctance profiles are based on the rank of the work area for the employee. The system uses the information in the work area reluctance profile to determine what work area to assign shifts for a particular employee when there is a choice and other schedule inputs (like forecast demand) are equal.

This procedure is required only when you have employees at locations with multiple work area assignments.
1. You access the activity through either:
¡ The SAP IMG, by choosing the path SAP IMG ® Customer Relationship Management ® Workforce Deployment ® Retail and Interaction Center Workforce Deployment ® Schedule Settings ® Define Work Area Reluctance Profiles
¡ The SAP Easy Access menu, enter the transaction code CRM_WFM_SM.
You see the initial page for the site maintenance tool.

ii. At Sub-Type, display the selections and choose Work Area Reluctance.
iii. Choose Search.
iv. Click Work Area Reluctance, the topmost node of the tree, with the secondary mouse button and choose Create.
You see the Create New Parameter dialog box.

Use / Notes |
WA Reluctance ID |
The unique identifier for the work area reluctance profile that you entered at the Create New Parameter dialog box. |

The system uses this for all drop-down and screen displays. This manager sees this description on the Work Areas and Qualifications tab of the Employees page when adding employees to the system for scheduling. |
Long Description |
Enter a long description of the work area reluctance profile. |
|
3. Save your entries and choose the record you just saved.
4. You see the Individual WA Reluct Profile table.
5. Choose New Entries.
6. Define the profile by completing the following fields in the Individual WA Reluct Profile table:
Field |
Description |
Use / Notes |
WA Rank |
A number representing the work area's rank within all work areas for the employee. |
The work area ranks must be in numerical order, starting at 1. |
Start Date |
The beginning date for the work area reluctance profile definition. |
The system considers the work area reluctance profile definition valid for the range defined by the start and end dates. Note that date entries may not overlap. |
End Date |
An end date. |
If no end date is planned for this work area reluctance profile definition, enter 12/31/9999 to specify an open-ended validity range. |
WA Rank Cost |
A numeric value that indicates the schedule importance for a work area. |
You use work area rank costs to define the importance you want to attach to each work area for use when the system generates a schedule. The higher the cost, the least important the work area for scheduling. Use the same value when there is no difference in importance. |
7. Save your entries.
You have defined work area reluctance profiles and can assign them to your location. For more information, see Assign Parameter Settings to Locations.
