The processing of an action can take place at different times.
You can define when the started action is to be processed, that is, when the system actually executes the action, such as when the system is to create a follow-on transaction or print output.
In CRM, the following possibilities are available for the time an action is processed:
Immediate processing
The action is started as soon as the start condition is fulfilled.
Processing when saving the transaction.
The action is started when the transaction is saved.
Processing using the Selection Report (Action Monitor)
If the start condition has been fulfilled, the action is started after the execution of a selection report.
You can use the action monitor as the selection report.
The processing time Process Immediately has consequences for the Display in Toolbar function.
If you choose an action with processing time Process Immediately from the application toolbar, the action is started immediately if the start condition has been fulfilled.
Note
Use this setting to start actions directly from transaction processing. Define an action definition by using the following attributes:
Select Display in Toolbar
Do not select Schedule Automatically
Select the processing time Process Immediately
Do not define a start condition
You can start this action from transaction processing for sales transactions directly, because the start condition is always regarded as fulfilled.
Caution
You cannot select the processing time Process When Saving Document when making changes within the current transaction. In change mode, it is not possible to change a field in the dialog, and, at the same time, automatically change it through an action.
Set the processing time in action definition in Customizing for Customer Relationship Management (CRM), by choosing
in CRM Sales and by choosing in CRM Marketing.
