Configuring Build Variants and Build Options

Prerequisites

You are in Landscape Configurator in Change Management Service (CMS).

Procedure

To configure a build variant with build options, proceed as follows:

...

       1.      Select the track for which you want to configure build variants and switch to change mode.

       2.      Choose the Build Variants tab page.

       3.      Choose Add… The Build Variant dialog box appears.

       4.      Enter the required values:

○       Build Variant Name: Freely definable name of the build variant

○       Valid for System: System where you want the build variant to be valid

○       Required for Activation: Specifies whether the build variant has relevance for the activation process.

       5.      Choose New Build Option. A new row in the table is activated.

       6.      Enter the name and the value of the build option that you want to configure.

For information about the build options provided by SAP, choose Build Option Documentation.

       7.      Repeat the previous step for all build options that you want to group in this build variant.

       8.      Choose Add. The build variant is added to the track.

       9.      To activate the new build variant, you must assignit to software components.

If you do not assign any software components to a build variant, CMS does not save the build variant.

   10.      Save your data.

Result

You have added a build variant with build options to the track. This variant can be used by Component Build Service for the central build.
