Function documentation Customizing of Territory-Dependent Business Partner Data Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You use this function to make settings for territory-dependent business partner data (relationship categories, notes, business hours). If, for example, a relationship category is territory-dependent, it is only displayed for users who are assigned to that particular territory.

Caution

Relationship categories are not exchanged between SAP CRM Enterprise and SAP CRM Mobile. Ensure that the settings you make for the relationship categories in Customizing for SAP CRM Enterprise and in the Mobile System Maintenance for SAP CRM Mobile are identical.  If this is not the case, the system in which a relationship category does not exist cannot interpret the data in the link table.

Prerequisites

·        You have created Structure linkRelationship Category.

For more information, see Structure linkRelationship Category Maintenance.

·        You have created territories in Structure linkTerritory Management.

·        You have made the relevant settings for choice fields.

For more information about choice fields, see Structure linkChoice Field Overview.

Features

You can indicate which relationship categories are territory-dependent and assign them a territory ID. You can define the level of the territory ID on which you want to assign relationship categories. In pharmaceuticals, for example, you might want to use the following levels:

·        Company (for example, a subsidiary within a corporate group)

·        Product line

·        Region (for example, Southern Germany, Northern Germany)

·        Regional pharmaceuticals market segment (RPM segment)

Using the application parameter OWNTERRIDLENGTH, you can also define how many characters of an employee’s standard territory ID the system should check before it displays territory-dependent notes or business hours.

Note

You have entered the value 3 for the parameter OWNTERRIDLENGTH. The employee Donna Moore is assigned to the standard territory ABC10000. A co-worker has created territory-dependent notes that are assigned to the territories ABC, CDE, and ABC70000. Only the first three characters (ABC) of Donna’s territory ID are important, because you have entered the value 3 for the parameter OWNTERRIDLENGTH. The system shows Donna the territory-dependent notes for the territories ABC and ABC70000.

The standard value for OWNTERRIDLENGTH is 2.

The system also uses the application parameter ALLTERRIDLENGTH to check whether all the released notes and business hours should indeed be displayed for all SAP CRM users. If you do not want to define any additional internal company restrictions, enter the standard value 0 for this parameter. However, if your company has several competing subsidiaries, you might, for example, want to enter the value 2 for the application parameter ALLTERRIDLENGTH. The system then checks the first two characters of the logged-on user's standard territory ID and only displays the information for that user’s particular subsidiary.
