Checking the Environment of a Mobile Client

Use

The errors that occur in the mobile client are primarily related to the environment of the mobile client. To ensure that the mobile client functions efficiently, the environment of the mobile client must be complete and consistent. You use this procedure to:

· View mobile client environment information, such as general settings, database logins, and system settings. For more information, see Info Options for the Mobile Client Environment.

· Check the environment of the mobile client (such as general settings, software prerequisites, and system space) for consistency and completeness. For more information, see Check Options for the Mobile Client Environment.

You can check the environment of the mobile client only from the CRM Middleware perspective.

Prerequisites

You must have read and write access to the registry.

Procedure

1. On the Client Console screen, choose Action à Trouble Shooting à Check Environment.

The Environment Checks screen appears.

2. Select the required Info options.

3. Select the required check options.

To select or deselect all the options, choose Select All or Deselect All. Similarly, to expand or collapse all the options, choose Expand All or Collapse All.

4. To log results to a file, select Log results to file.

· By default, the results are logged in the EnvironmentCheck.htmfile that is created in the default windows temporary folder. To specify a different file name or path, choose Ellipsis.

· To append results to an existing file, select Append to file.

5. Choose Execute.

The HTML file that contains the results is generated and stored in the specified path.

6. To view the results, choose the path represented as a hyperlink next to the Log results to file option.

The HTML file appears displaying the results.

Result

Based on the results, if the environment of the mobile client is inconsistent or incomplete, you can rectify the same. This ensures that the environment of the mobile client is complete and consistent before the laptops are rolled out to the customer.
