Mapping a Collateral Constellation
When you process product master data, you form collateral constellations for financial service products (FS products), in order to safeguard mortgage loans, for example. You create a collateral constellation by creating relationships between FS products and product categories.
As SAP Customer Relationship Management (SAP CRM) transfers the collateral constellations to the connected collateral management system (for example, SAP ERP Collateral Management), the products and relationships that you create in SAP CRM must match the products and relationships in the backend system.

● You have defined the possible agreement types in Customizing.

The following graphic illustrates a collateral constellation typically used for mortgage loans:

An overview of the elements of a collateral constellation is provided below:
● Elements of a collateral constellation that you map using products:
○ Object: Mapping as project of type Material, category Real Estate
For more information, see Mapping Objects.
○ Collateral Agreement: Mapping of a product of type Financial Service (FS product), category Collateral Agreement
○ Receivable: Mapping of a product of type Financial Service (FS product), category Loan
● Elements of a collateral constellation that you map using relationships:
○ Charge: Determines the amount by which the asset (object) is debited by the collateral agreement.
Mapped as an FS relationship with the purpose Collateral Charge
○ Purpose declaration: Defines the scope of collateral for the receivables assigned to a collateral agreement.
Mapped as an FS relationship with the purpose Collateral Scope.
For more information see Linking FS Products and Product Categories.

You can also link a business value (mortgage loan) to an asset value. This makes sense if you want to transfer the conditions of the object to the loan item in the business transaction, for example. To do this, you link the loan product with either the object directly or – for a more flexible option – with the category of the object.
