Function documentationMonitor Imports Locate this document in the navigation structure

You use the Monitor Imports function to manage the data inbound processing. For more information, see Inbound Processing.

Features

  • Processes different message types. For a master data object, this can include location data. For a transactional data object, this can include sales data.

  • Provides a scheduling concept, that is, a definable processing sequence of message types, definable package sizes for the different message types, and parallel processing of message types.

  • Provides error handling.

Activities

Use the Message Type tree to see an overview of the records in the staging area. Several staging tables can correspond to the same message.

Viewing Message Type Details

You can display details of any message type by selecting the hyperlink for that message.

Note Note

The columns displayed in the search results screen relate to the message type that you have chosen and may vary with each message type.

End of the note.

To display the exceptions for all erroneous records for a specific message type, first choose the corresponding hyperlink. Then choose the Exceptions icon. You see all exceptions that may have occurred for this message type in the bottom portion of the screen.

To display details of exceptions that have occurred for a specific record of the message type, first select the record. Then choose the Display option on the Exceptions screen.

Setting Auto Refresh

You can set the auto refresh option as follows:

  1. Choose Auto Refresh.

  2. Select the Enabled radio button.

  3. Enter a numeric value for the Time period field. This sets the auto refresh to execute at the specified interval.

  4. Choose Auto Refresh.

Recommendation Recommendation

Disable the auto refresh option to avoid complications and performance-related stresses associated with processing large volumes of data.

End of the recommendation.
Manual Processing

You use manual processing to process the records of the selected message types into the corresponding objects. Proceed as follows:

  1. Choose Manual Processing.

  2. Select the message types to be processed.

Once you have selected the message types, the records of the corresponding staging tables are packaged according to a predefined (as displayed) or a changed package size. The records are processed in parallel processes and there are no visible changes on the interface.

Manually Deleting Erroneous Records

You might have to delete erroneous records manually if the records contain errors in key fields, as it is not possible to remove these erroneous records. Proceed as follows:

  1. Choose Manual Deletion.

  2. Select the staging tables of the message types that you would like to delete by selecting the corresponding checkboxes.

  3. Choose Execute.

Cleaning Up Staging Tables

You can use this function to clean up the staging tables. This is only possible if there are dependent records that have no main record, for example, time-dependent data for a nonexistent main record, as the system never picks these records for processing.

Proceed as follows:

  1. Choose Cleanup Staging.

  2. Select the message types that you would like to clean up by selecting the corresponding checkboxes.

  3. Choose Execute.
