Inbound Processing
The inbound processing of interfaces is designed to receive data from external applications.
The data is used to support business activities, such as planning, logistics, modeling, forecasting, or reporting.
Demand Data Foundation (DDF) can receive master data and time series from an SAP ERP application or a non-SAP application. Note that DDF can receive data from more than one application.
The following steps outline the inbound processing of interfaces from an external application to DDF:
The external application sends the data to the DDF staging tables. During this step, DDF performs several validation checks, such as verifying authorizations and the logical system.
You transfer the data from the staging tables to the production tables. Before inserting the data into the production tables, DDF performs several validation checks. You can use the following options to transfer the data to the production tables:
The Monitor Imports function
The Process Inbound Staging Tables function
The /DMF/PROCESS_STAGING_TABLES report
Recommendation
If transferring the transportation lane, product location, or sales data from the staging tables to the production tables takes more time than expected, you can use the /DMF/SET_STAGING_CONFIG_TABLE report to activate an alternative packaging of the data. For more information, see the report documentation (transaction SE38).
Once the data has been successfully received in the production tables, it is available for subsequent processes.
If there are erroneous records, you can view them using the Monitor Imports function or the Monitor Exceptions function.
You can monitor the data inbound processing using the Monitor Imports function.
