You always set up the initial response of Postprocessing
in the posting control rules for payment items in whose transaction type you have activated the check object Overdraft Protection
. This is regardless of which check was successful in the check object.
This means that the payment items even go into postprocessing if the available amount has not been exceeded, but, for example, priority has been assigned to the funded account.
The report Execute Overdraft Protection is started and the postings are triggered.
Advantages |
Disadvantages |
If the total of the available amounts on the funding accounts is insufficient, the report can include all payment items in the prioritization during a partial transfer. |
Depending on how many of your checking accounts you are using as funded accounts in overdraft protection, a large amount of the postings are executed not immediately, but in a subsequent report run. This can have a negative effect on the performance of the report run. |
Based on the individual checks of the check object, you have set up the following initial responses in the posting control rules for payment items for whose transaction type you have activated the Overdraft Protection
check object:
Payment items for accounts to which a priority is assigned, and that thus apply as funded accounts are generally posted.
If the available amount is exceeded, however, and/or there is already an account order because of an overdraft protection problem, the payment items are placed in postprocessing.
Advantages |
Disadvantages |
No payment item goes to postprocessing simply because it is to be posted on an account that could become a funded account. Once there is an account order, the report can include subsequent incoming payment items in the prioritization should there be a partial transfer. |
If there is an account order, but then a credit posting is entered and the available amount on the account would suffice for the next debit posting, all additional payment items are still placed in postprocessing. If the total of all payment items on a posting day exceeds the available amount on the account, it is not possible to prioritize all the payment items because some of the payment items were already posted. Only the remaining payment items can be prioritized. Therefore, the sequence of the incoming payment items partially affects the decision as to whether a payment item is to be posted or placed in postprocessing. |

Once the available amount is sufficient because of a subsequent credit posting, and while this is the case, incoming payment items are posted although there is an account order.
