Function documentationExtended Calculation of Effective and Nominal Utilization for a Facility

This flexible and configurable model enables you to calculate the extended utilization of a facility, using a limit that you have set up. In the calculation, the system can take into account the following allowed facility participants:

  • Master Contract

  • Checking Account

  • Loan Account

The extended utilization enables you to define more than one technical utilization category for each business utilization category. In addition to utilization categories 20 Effective Utilization and 50 Nominal Utilization used in the calculation model Calculation of Effective and Nominal Utilization for a Facility, you can now also use utilization categories 21-29 Extended Effective Utilization and 51-59 Extended Nominal Utilization.

You can define an individual limit for each of the effective and nominal utilization categories, to be used for checking the utilization. In addition to the global external limit and global internal limit, you can specify that the system does not use a limit for the check, or you can specify a global customer limit. You can use a global customer limit instead of the global external limit for the calculation of the nominal utilization.

For each technical utilization category where the clearing mode is set to a debit balance, you can specify whether a limit check is always to run, or to be skipped if there is a credit balance that cannot be cleared.

Prerequisites

To use this calculation model, you have made the following settings in Customizing:

  • In the Customizing activity Edit General Settings, you have completed the following (see Customizing under Start of the navigation path Financial Services Next navigation step Master Contract Management Next navigation step Master Contract Applications Next navigation step Facilities) End of the navigation path:

    • You have set up the mode for currency translation.

    • You have selected the Deactivate Check Limits checkbox.

    • You have deselected all check limits. These are no longer used for the functions of the limit check, and the system ignores them.

  • In the Customizing activity Assign Global Customer Limit Categories to Customer Limit Categories, you have made the assignment (see Customizing under Start of the navigation path Financial Services Next navigation step Master Contract Management Next navigation step Master Contract Applications Next navigation step Facilities) End of the navigation path:

  • In the Customizing activities Enter Descriptions for Global Limit Categories and Enter Descriptions for Technical Utilization Categories, you have entered the descriptions (see Customizing under Start of the navigation path Financial Services Next navigation step Master Contract Management Next navigation step Master Contract Applications Next navigation step Facilities End of the navigation path).

  • In the Product Configurator of the master contract, you have created new products for your facilities, and set up the following attributes in particular (see Customizing under Start of the navigation path Financial Services Next navigation step Master Contract Management Next navigation step Product Management Next navigation step Product Definition Next navigation step Master Contract Products End of the navigation path):

    • Extended Calculation of Effective Utilization

    • Extended Calculation of Nominal Utilization

    • For facilities with term restriction and loan accounts: Check criterion

  • For master contract hierarchies whose participant accounts and master contracts have different currencies, you have processed the following Customizing activities:

    1. You have set up and checked Customizing for Account Management under Start of the navigation path Item Management Next navigation step Basic Functions Next navigation step Currency Exchange End of the navigation path. In particular, you have specified in the Customizing activity Define Currency Customizing whether the currency Customizing is to be set up by means of the currency settings in SAP NetWeaver or by means of the market data functions.

    2. In the Customizing activity, Assign Exchange Rate Types for Currency Translation, you have assigned the relevant exchange rate categories (see Start of the navigation path Master Contract Management Next navigation step General Settings Next navigation step Assign Exchange Rate Types for Currency Translation) End of the navigation path

    3. Depending on the setting in the Customizing activity Define Currency Customizing, you have processed the following Customizing activities:

If you are using the currency functions in SAP NetWeaver:

    • Start of the navigation path SAP NetWeaver Next navigation step General Settings Next navigation step Currencies Next navigation step Check Exchange Rate Categories End of the navigation path

    • Start of the navigation path SAP NetWeaver Next navigation step General Settings Next navigation step Currencies Next navigation step Define Translation Ratios for Currency Translation End of the navigation path

    • Start of the navigation path SAP NetWeaver Next navigation step General Settings Next navigation step Currencies Next navigation step Enter Exchange Rates End of the navigation path

If you are using the market data functions:

    • Start of the navigation path SAP NetWeaver Next navigation step General Settings Next navigation step Currencies Next navigation step Check Exchange Rate Categories End of the navigation path

    • Start of the navigation path Financial Services Next navigation step Foundation Next navigation step Market Data Next navigation step Create Market Data Area End of the navigation path

    • Start of the navigation path Financial Services Next navigation step Foundation Next navigation step Market Data Next navigation step Currency Exchange Rates Next navigation step Define Exchange Rate Types and Exchange Rates End of the navigation path

If you are using the market data currency functions, you can also enter the exchange rates on the SAP Easy Access screen under Start of the navigation path Financial Services Next navigation step Foundation Next navigation step Market Data Next navigation step Edit Exchange Rates End of the navigation path.

Note Note

If you have technical reasons for not wanting to send the changed values of a particular calculation basis to the master contract-managing system, you can specify this as optional. You do so in the Customizing activity Mark UCBs not relevant for Account Products. (see Customizing under Start of the navigation path Financial Services Next navigation step Account Management Next navigation step Technical Settings End of the navigation path)

End of the note.

Note Note

You can use a Business Add-In (BAdI) to control the inclusion of time-dependent shares of the effective utilization (prenote balances and subject to final payment balances). You find this BAdI in Customizing for Master Contract Management under Start of the navigation path Master Contract Applications Next navigation step Facilities Next navigation step Business Add-Ins (BAdIs) Next navigation step BAdI: Evaluation of Time-Dependent Shares of Effective Utilization End of the navigation path.

Unless you define otherwise, the system includes time-dependent shares if they are valid on the current system time stamp. However, in this BAdI you can specify that the system includes these shares if they are valid on the current posting date. These dates and times may be different during end-of-day processing or in test systems and can result in different utilizations.

End of the note.

Caution Caution

If you are an existing customer, you need to regenerate your master contract hierarchies before you start using the new calculation model.

End of the caution.
