Defining Metadata
The Defining Metadata process contains configuration tasks that the implementation team performs.
Metadata is required to classify and categorize documents in follow-on processes. For example, metadata can be used to automatically sort documents into categories and during searches.
This IT process is part of the following IT scenario:
IT Scenario |
Scenario Variant |
● You have created one or more repository managers.
● The services required in follow-on processes have been activated.
The following IT process is incorporated in the Enterprise Portal (EP) usage type:
1. Configure predefined properties.
You model properties. During configuration of the properties, you can, for example, define whether these properties are to be indexed, which values can be assigned to them, or whether they can only be used in specific folders.
Afterwards, you should modify the property structures. You use property structures to specify the arrangement and sequence of the properties in the property overview.
2. Configure resource types.
You create resource types that services and applications can use to distinguish between objects. For example, documents of a certain resource type can have properties that are not available to documents of other resource types.
You have created properties and resource types that can be analyzed in follow-on processes.
