Capacity (Infotype 1024)
Infotype you use to specify the minimum, optimum, and maximum capacity for resource types, resources, course types, and courses. If the minimum capacity defined for a course is not reached, the system proposes that the course should be canceled when you go to firmly book it. The optimum capacity is used to calculate the resources required and the costs expected. The maximum capacity is the maximum number of participants allowed for a course.
The Capacity infotype is used:
· During resource selection when you reserve resources for a course to determine the optimum number of participants for which a resource type should be reserved.
· During resource selection when you reserve resources for a course to determine the room capacity.
· When booking participation to monitor the permitted number of essential and normal bookings. The capacities of the room and the course are compared to establish the overall capacity of the course.

This value is determined at runtime only. The overall capacity of the course is displayed on the Book Participation data screen under Course Data and also in the dynamic Participation, Course, Tool and Information menus (by double-clicking the traffic light icon beside the courses).
· For the function Price Proposal when the course price is based on the optimum capacity of the course.
The following rules are applied for calculating the overall capacity of a course:
· Minimum capacity of a course is the higher of the minimum capacities defined for the resources and the course.
· Optimum capacity of a course is the lower of the optimum capacities defined for the resources and the course.

In the Learning Portal, bookings can only be made until the optimum capacity has been reached. Bookings that exceed the optimal capacity can only be made by a training administrator in Training Management
· Maximum capacity of a course is the lower of the maximum capacities defined for the resources and the course.

The following capacity values are stored for a course:
Minimum = 5, Optimum = 10, Maximum = 15
The room in which the course is to be held has the following capacity values stored:
Minimum = 2, Optimum = 12, Maximum = 12
The resulting capacity values relevant for participation bookings are:
Minimum = 5, Optimum = 10, Maximum = 12

If a resource does not have a Capacity infotype record, the capacity values stored for the resource type are taken. If a course does not have a Capacity infotype record, the capacity values stored for the course type are taken.
If none of the objects mentioned has capacity values stored for them, the system takes the standard capacity defined in Customizing for Training and Event Management under SAP Learning Solution ®Training Management ® Control Elements (switch SEMIN KAP).
· If the minimum capacity is larger than the maximum, the values for optimum and minimum are automatically matched to the maximum value.

The following capacity values are stored for a course:
Minimum = 10, Optimum = 15, Maximum = 20
The room in which the course is to be held has the following capacity values stored:
Minimum = 2, Optimum = 5, Maximum = 8
The resulting capacities are:
Minimum = 8, Optimum = 8, Maximum = 8
· If the optimum capacity only is smaller than the minimum, the optimum is matched to the minimum.

The following capacity values are stored for a course:
Minimum = 10, Optimum = 15, Maximum = 20
The room in which the course is to be held has the following capacity values stored:
Minimum = 3, Optimum = 9, Maximum = 12
The resulting capacities are:
Minimum = 9, Optimum = 9, Maximum = 12
· You maintain this infotype in Customizing for Training Management under Course Preparation or in Current Settings under Create resource type. This value is proposed as the default value when you create the resource Room in the step Create room. You can overwrite it.
· If you want to specify the number of participants, you can maintain this infotype in Customizing for Training Management under Course Preparation or in Current Settings under Create course type. This capacity is proposed as the default value when you plan or create a course.
