Function documentation Carryforward into New Timeframe  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

When a timeframe is closed, assessments and tests containing unresolved issues are automatically carried forward to the following timeframe so that issue remediation can be continued. In this way, the corresponding tasks can be edited further in the new timeframe.

A timeframe is closed for assessments and tests in the following cases:

·        After sign-off for an organizational unit

·        After a task has been scheduled for the subsequent timeframe.

A timeframe is therefore not closed as a whole. Instead, it is closed for a specific task or organizational unit.

Documents created for the old timeframe as part of assessment or testing are copied into the new timeframe and can be edited further in that timeframe.

Prerequisites

In Customizing for MIC, you have performed the IMG activity Workflow ® Copy Documents After Carryforward into New Timeframe.

Features

In the scheduling for the timeframe following the closed timeframe, all tasks pertaining to assessments and tests that have issues that were not resolved in the previous timeframe are also scheduled for the new timeframe and appear in the users’ worklists on the day scheduled.

Note

The system only carries forward issues that have the status Submitted or Validated in the closed timeframe. Issues with the status Draft or issues that have not yet been validated and therefore have the status Review or Rework are not carried forward. Where applicable, you need to report these issues again in the new timeframe.

Processor, status, and so forth are carried forward, unless the persons responsible have changed in the new timeframe. The system considers such changes, and the task is sent to the person currently responsible for it. The rest of the procedure is the same as the usual procedure, with the exception of the following:

In the case of issues and remediation plans that were carried forward from a previous timeframe, no control test is repeated automatically. When all issues are closed, the corresponding test acquires the status Closed Automatically. You can, however, trigger a retest manually using the Ad Hoc Start of Assessments and Tests.

The Carryforward Status of a task indicates whether a task has already been processed for a previous timeframe. The following carryforward statuses are possible:

Carryforward Status

Meaning

No Carryforward

The assessment/test has been started for the current timeframe and is still be processed; no carryforward has yet been performed

Closed

The assessment/test has been started and closed for the current timeframe.

Closed in New Timeframe

The assessment/test has been started for the previous timeframe, then carried forward to the current timeframe, and then closed in that timeframe.

Carry Forward Without Target Timeframe

The assessment/test has been started for a timeframe that has subsequently been closed by sign-off at the organizational unit level. Scheduling, on the other hand, has not yet been performed for the new timeframe. This status is consequently only a temporary one. As soon as scheduling has been performed, the status becomes Carried Forward from Closed Timeframe.

Carry Forward

The assessment/test has been started in the current timeframe but has not yet been closed. The timeframe, however, has been closed. Consequently, the tasks are carried forward to the new timeframe.

Repeat Carryforward

The assessment/test has already been carried forward from the previous timeframe and must now be carried forward again.

Carried Forward from Closed Timeframe

The assessment/test has been carried forward from the previous timeframe and scheduled for the new timeframe.
