Selection
You must transfer the information to the allocation type regarding which requirements should be selected and which stock can be used for the coverage of these requirements. For this you define the rule for the requirements selection and the stock selection in Customizing. Then you must enter both rules in the allocation type.
In addition, you must define which date field of the sales order the system should access during the requirements selection and how it should carry out this access to the database. For this you can use the material or partner index or directly access the database. The access definition is carried out via the access rule, which you must also enter in the allocation type.
When you start the allocation run, you must enter an open-to-delivery date in the selection screen of the allocation run. This time window depends on the date field you have defined in the allocation type.

You have selected the order date field confirmed delivery date (EDATU) in the allocation type. If you now start the allocation run with your allocation type, you must choose a period of time when the material should be open to delivery. Select the sales orders whose confirmed delivery date is within this period.
So that the allocation type knows which requirements should be allocated, you must create the rule for the requirements selection. You can only select sales orders in the selection.
In the allocation type, the Rule for the Stock Selection field controls which stock the allocation run should access to satisfy the above mentioned requirements.
You can allocate the company’s own and the external stock. However, with the company’s own stock you must differentiate between the actual stock and the future receipts. The normal mode of the allocation run can only allocate physical stock, purchase orders, confirmations, and production orders. This means you can only select purchase requisitions and planned orders if you carry out the allocation run in the preview mode.

If you start the allocation run in the normal mode and if it accesses purchase requisitions and planned orders, it is not possible to assign the selected requirements to the stock.
