Function documentation Action Rule Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

Using the action rule, you can determine that in certain circumstances, you can assign requirements to stock (you can reserve them) despite failed release checks. Normally the assignments would be dropped because the minimum quantities are not reached.

Integration

The action rule works with the reallocation rule that is stored in the allocation type. You can fulfill stock with subsequent allocation runs until the minimum quantities are fulfilled and the release checks have therefore been passed.

Features

The action rule consists of:

·         The action (that is, the reaction parameter) that controls whether the system reaction is an information message, termination, warning or error. However, it only makes sense to use an action rule if the system reaction to a failed release check is displayed as an error.

·         The release object level (the level at which the release check failed). If you do not enter a level, the assigned quantities at all allocation levels are kept, despite release checks that failed due to the allocation result.

·         The allocation run event. The event is relevant if the release check has failed. The MRP status for the respective partial quantity, for which batch stock is still available, will ultimately be determined from the entries in the fields Allocated Quantity and Open Quantity and the Allocation Run Event.

·         The handling of assigned quantities. That means the assignment of the quantities to the requirements must be kept, even if a release check has failed.

Example

The SAP action rule MASS causes stock to be assigned to the orders, even if the stock could not be allocated during the release checks because of general errors. They get the MRP status R (reserved).

Activities

1.       In Customizing, to define your action rule choose AFS Allocation Run ® ARun Detail ® Release ® Action Rule.

2.       Choose Release Rule to enter this action rule in the corresponding release rule.

3.       Choose Define Allocation Logic ® Reallocation to define the reallocation rule and enter it in the corresponding allocation type. This step is necessary because using an action rule without a reallocation only leads to a reservation of the stock. However, the stock should be filled with each subsequent allocation run until the valid release rules are fulfilled.
