Function documentation Execution of an Allocation Run Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

You can carry out an allocation run both in the background and online. This topic describes what you should note during the execution of an online allocation run. The background processing of allocation runs is described in another section.

Features

An allocation type controls every allocation run. All the rules that influence the allocation run are grouped in the allocation type. The individual rules, such as the release check or the requirements sorting, are individually defined in Customizing of the allocation run and entered in the corresponding allocation type. Since you can define any number of allocation types, you can map a very wide variety of business processes in the system. For example, you can create special allocation types with specific settings for certain customers. That way you can make sure those special requests can be mapped by the system during the sales order processing.

Each time you start an allocation run you can decide in which mode the run should be carried out. You can choose the normal mode that actually carries out allocations, the simulation mode that shows the currently possible allocation results, or the preview mode that allocates existing orders against future stocks.

Every allocation run is controlled using an allocation type. The rules that are stored in the allocation type determine how the allocation is carried out. Before you start an online or dialog allocation run, you can decide whether the settings of the allocation type will be completely transferred or whether certain parameters of the release check and the stock/requirements sorting should be overwritten. It is therefore not necessary to redefine allocation types if there are only short-term changes. In addition you can make settings in Customizing for the release check. You can do that in the menu of the allocation run. You can also make temporary changes without directly branching to the IMG.

You can display the results of a saved allocation run anytime via the ARun Optimizer and the log files. With the aid of the log files you can also subsequently check which settings were used during the execution of an allocation run.

Activities

1.       If necessary, define an allocation type in Customizing for the allocation run.

2.       In the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Logistics  ® Allocation Run  ®Online Processing.

3.       Choose an allocation type to determine which rules should be used for the execution of the allocation.

4.       Determine in which mode the allocation should be carried out.

5.       Enter a description for each allocation run. You can use it as search help during later evaluations via the ARun Optimizer or the log files.

6.       Determine whether the allocation run should be carried out according to the rules that are entered in the allocation type or whether you want to overwrite individual parameters of the release check or the stock/requirements sorting.

7.       Choose Execute to start your allocation run.

8.       Save your allocation run.

9.       If you want to subsequently check the settings of an executed allocation run, you can branch to the log files from the overview screen Online Processing.
