Creating and Updating Promotions from Promotion Messages
In the promotion collaboration process of SAP Supply Network Collaboration (SAP SNC), the customer can send promotion data (location products, promotion quantities, time buckets, promotion ID, and event type) to SAP SNC using a DemandInfluencingEventNotification
XML
message (promotion message). SAP SNC uses the promotion data from the promotion message to create new promotions or update existing promotions.
The customer sends promotion data for a single promotion (location products, promotion quantities, time buckets as well as the promotion ID and event type on the header level of the promotion message) in the promotion message. When SAP SNC receives the promotion message, it can automatically create or update the promotion using the customer-specified promotion ID and event type. If the customer does not specify a promotion ID, SAP SNC can automatically determine the promotion ID and create a promotion. For more information, see Determination of Promotion IDs for a Single Promotion.
The customer sends promotion data (location products, promotion quantities, and time buckets) for multiple promotions in a promotion message. In the promotion message, however, the customer can only maintain one promotion ID on the header level of the promotion message. Because the promotion message only contains one promotion ID, SAP SNC cannot automatically update existing promotions or create new promotions from the customer's promotion data. SAP SNC must first determine if there are existing promotions in the system that are relevant to the customer's promotion data.
For SAP SNC to automatically determine if a promotion already exists in SAP SNC, you maintain a list of all existing promotions in the Determine Promotion IDs
Customizing activity. Upon receipt of the promotion message, SAP SNC automatically compares the promotions
listed in Customizing with the promotion data in the promotion message. If the promotion data in the promotion message corresponds to existing promotions in SAP SNC, it updates the relevant promotion by assigning the relevant time buckets of the location product times series from the promotion message
to the corresponding promotion in SAP SNC. If the promotion data is not relevant for existing promotions in SAP SNC, it automatically creates new promotions. For more information, see Creating Promotions from Promotion
Messages with Multiple Promotions.
To automatically determine promotion IDs and event types for multiple promotions, you must activate the business function Supply Network Collaboration 1 (SCM_SNC_GEN_1
)
If the customer sends in a promotion message with time series data that is based on daily time buckets, SAP SNC can automatically aggregate the daily time buckets to calculate a total promotion quantity. SAP SNC can use the total promotion quantity to ensure that it uses a pre-defined sales and distribution pattern for the creation of multiple promotions. For more information, see Determination of Sales and Distribution Patterns from Promotion Messages for Multiple Promotions.
To use this feature, you must activate the business function Supply Network Collaboration 1 (SCM_SNC_GEN_1
).
To update a promotion that already exists in SAP SNC, the customer can send a promotion message containing changed promotion data. The customer sends either full updates or partial updates depending on whether he or she wants to update all location products (full update) or only some of the location products (partial update) in the promotion. If the customer sends partial updates, and depending on whether the supplier accepts partial updates from the customer, SAP SNC reacts as follows:
If the supplier does not accept partial updates for a promotion, but SAP SNC receives changed promotion data from the customer, it updates the location products in the promotion with the changed promotion data. The system considers location products that have no updates as obsolete and deletes them from the promotion.
If the supplier accepts partial updates for a promotion, SAP SNC updates the location products with the new or changed promotion data. However, the system leaves location products that have no updates in the promotion and does not delete them.
If SAP SNC accepts partial updates, you have made settings in Customizing for Supply Network Collaboration
under .
To use this feature, you must activate the business function Supply Network Collaboration 1 (SCM_SNC_GEN_1
).
