  Archive Production Tracking Information

Use

By archiving production tracking information which you no longer need during system access, you can free up database capacity which had been taken up by this information. To archive production tracking information, you use SAP standard archiving (see Archiving of Application Data (CA-ARC) ) and the archiving object PPS_AHT .

Write

  1. Choose Start of the navigation path Tools Next navigation step Administration Next navigation step Administration Next navigation step Data Archiving End of the navigation path (transaction SARA).

    This takes you to the initial screen for archiving data.

  2. Enter PPS_AHT in the Object name field.

  3. Choose Write.

    The Archive Administration: Create Archive Files screen appears.

  4. Select one of the variants, or create your own selection variant.

    You can select according to order number or according toalternative identification . If you do not make an entry in any of these fields, the system selects all existing tracking records which occur before the residence time.

    Note Note

    If you want to schedule the job periodically, you should not enter a comment for the archiving run (short text) when creating the variant. In this case, the system generates a short text ( Tracking Records to <Date> ). The date is the start date minus the residence time. When reading the archive files, you do not have to open the archive files because you can tell from the short text what data they contain.

  5. Choose Start date and Spool params .

  6. Choose .

    The system writes the tracking records to an archive file. At the same time, the information is deleted on the database (if you have made the corresponding setting).

Read

  1. Choose Start of the navigation path Tools Next navigation step Administration Next navigation step Administration Next navigation step Data Archiving End of the navigation path (transaction SARA).

    This takes you to the initial screen for archiving data.

  2. Enter PPS_AHT in the Object name field.

  3. Choose Read .

    The Archive Administration: Run Read Program screen appears.

  4. Choose .

    A selection screen appears.

  5. Make your selections according to the time period, order, action point or production line.

    The system displays all archives for this archiving object.

  6. Select an archive.

    The system displays the archived tracking records of the archive you selected. This means that you can not view the complete archive; the system only displays the tracking records within the archive that match your selection criteria. The screen layout is similar to the display of the productive tracking records (transaction /N/SAPAPO/TI01). The only differences are:

    • The system displays the amount of tracking records which have been archived in the upper left-hand part of the navigation tree.

    • The functions (deletion of tracking records) and (display of all orders which are being processed between two action points) are not available.

    • You cannot call up order details by double-clicking on the order number.

      Note Note

      It is not possible to upload tracking records which have been archived again as this does not make sense from a business point of view.
