Production Tracking Production tracking is a special action/function in the automated Action Handler, which is used to monitor the production process and to track the status of each planned order , and thus to ensure quality. For this purpose, specific information is saved in the APO database at certain action points (these correspond to lines, work centers or areas in production such as picking, packing, shipping).
Possible questions when using production tracking are:
Which action points has an order already passed through on a specific day at a specific time?
You can see whether the order has passed through specific action points several times due to errors in the production process. In the automotive industry, for example, this could be when spraying a vehicle.
How many/which orders have passed through a specific action point in a specific period of time?
If you have saved the relevant data for the action point using a Business Add-In (see below), you will be able to establish
which orders have been manufactured in a specific model. For example, in the automotive industry, how many vehicles have been sprayed metallic, and how many are standard, or which vehicles have air conditioning.
which processor was responsible for the activity in a resource at a specific time
How many/which orders have come through the action points on a specific line (when iPPE is used) within a certain period of time?
You can calculate, for example, how many orders are currently being processed between two action points of a line.
You have set up the connection between your production control system and the APO System (see Connection of the Production Control System to the APO System ).
You have entered the following information either in iPPE (transaction PPE) or, if you do not work with iPPE, in the master data of the Action Handler (transactions AHTGL02 and AHTGL01):
Action points , including information on error handling
assignment of the standard action
Update Production Tracking
(01SAP_PRODUCTION_TRACKING) to the desired action points
Note
You can also use your own actions instead of the standard action delivered by SAP if you have assigned them to the function /SAPAPO/AHTG_TRACKINGINFO_SAVE.
When an order reaches an action point, the system saves the production tracking information in the APO database. As a standard, this information includes: event date, event time, event type, action point, APO order number, alternative identification, external date, external time, quantity, base unit of measure.
Note
You can extend this standard data using a Business Add-In (technical name /SAPAPO/AHT_TRACKING).
You can access and evaluate the saved tracking information at any time (see Call up Production Tracking Information ) .
You can archive tracking information by using the cross-application component Archiving of Application Data (CA-ARC) (see Archive Production Tracking Information ).
