Component Assignment (Product-Process Assignment) You use the
Component Assignment
function to create the relationship between the product structure and the process structure for a material or product. You can assign all the components to the first activity even when they are installed in the following activities.
By assigning the components to activities you control which activities are needed to produce a configurable material. See also: Exploding a Process Structure for Line Balancing .
You have created a product variant structure or an assembly for the material to be produced and have entered the components at the variants.
Manual assignment on the
Assignments
tab page
You can assign components to the activity in which they are to be installed. You do so by entering the relevant node or component variant on the
Assignments
tab page.
Assigning components using the product-process assignment list.
You can use the product-process application list to assign all the components for a complete process structure and check the assignments. You can access the list via a production version if you have already maintained an iPPE access object for one. If you have not yet created a production version, you can select the product and process structures directly. In this way, you can assign components for substructures, for example, structures that are below a grouping activity.
Assigning components using the application tree
You can load the process structure in the navigation tree and also load the product structure as an application tree. You then assign components using Drag & Drop.
