Use

If it has been defined in Customizing that all fiscal year change operations may be executed for Funds Management, then the commitments and residual budgets are carried forward 1:1 when starting the programs which execute the operations. The total amount of a Funds Management account assignment (100 %) is carried forward to the same account assignment of the new year.

Using program RFFMCFM1 Monitor Closing Operations, you can get an overview of the current Customizing settings.

The definition of carryforward parameters allows you to selectively control the commitments carryforward and budget carryforward in the new fiscal year. In doing so, you can consider changes in your organizational structure and consider functional restructuring during year change operations. On the other hand, you can completely exclude certain value types or FM account assignments from the carryforward.

For example, you are able to control that an account assignment change is allowed during the commitments carryforward of purchase orders, whereas no account assignment changes are possible in invoices. For instance for the budget carryforward you can define that a sorting of the carryforward amount to different FM account assignments is allowed.

Integration

Carryforward parameters form the basis for defining special carryforward rules for individual FM account assignments. In carryforward parameters you always define the criteria according to which the special rules can be defined.

You define carryforward rules for a respective fiscal year. A carryforward rule therefore includes the concrete attribute of a carryforward parameter for individual FM account assignments; as a rule, the relationship of a sending and receiving element (if desired several elements) is described. In addition, whether amounts are completely, partially or not carried forward at all is defined.

Features

The carryforward type specifies the quality of a carryforward parameter and defines which criteria the carryforward rules must fulfill for individual FM account assignments. The following carryforward types are available:

Carryforward type

Function

Commitments

10

  • 100 % Sender = Receiver The overall amount of an FM account assignment is transferred to the same account assignment
  • Carryforward not allowed (0%)

20

100 %; Sender <> Receiver The total amount (100 %) of one FM account assignment is transferred to another account assignment.

Budget

10

  • 100 % Sender = Receiver The overall amount of an FM account assignment is transferred to the same account assignment
  • Carryforward not allowed (0%)

20

100%; Sender <> Receiver The total amount (100 %) of one FM account assignment is transferred to another account assignment.

30

Carryforward 100% or percentage (e.g. 40%); sender = receiver Shares of the residual budget of an FM account assignment are transferred to the same account assignment.

40

Carryforward 100% or percentage (e.g. 40%); sender <> receiver The overall residual budget or shares of the residual budget of an FM account assignment are transferred to several account assignments.

Activities

If you want to carry forward the commitments and the residual budgets 1:1 into the new fiscal year, you just have to maintain the default settings for the fiscal year change operations in the Funds Management Customizing. For more information see the Funds Management Government IMG in section Enter default settings.

You only need carryforward parameters if you want to target the commitments carryforward and the budget carryforward with carryforward rules for individual FM account assignments. You only have to create carryforward parameters in Customizing of Funds Management in this case. You can find more information in the IMG in section Define Carryforward Parameters.

You must subsequently assign the carryforward parameters to the value types for your FM area and a fiscal year for controlling the commitments carryforward in the Funds Management Government Customizing. Using this, a carryforward parameter can be assigned to several value types.

You have to define the carryforward parameters for controlling the budget carryforward in the settings for the carryforward of residual budgets.

For further information, see the Funds Management Government IMG under Additional functions ® Closing operations ® Commitment closing operations and Budget closing operations.

If the parameters are defined in Customizing, you can define your requirements in accordance with Generic and Special Carryforward Rules. Carryforward rules apply for a respective fiscal year.
