Use

The system transfers payables and receivables to Profit Center Accounting together. The transfer can only be made periodically.

The logic behind the assignment of receivables to various profit centers is demonstrated in the following examples:

Example: Billing Document from SD

Example: Direct Revenue Posting in FI

Meanwhile, the logic behind the assignment of payables to various profit centers is demonstrated in the following examples:

Example: Purchase Order to Warehouse

Example: Direct Posting of Invoice Receipts in FI

The assignment of payables and receivables to various profit centers is basically derived from the offsetting entry line of the FI document to which they belong. It is not possible to make structural changes to them within Profit Center Accounting. If, for example, you assign a new profit center to a material, or change the derivation rules when creating sales orders, these actions do not affect the assignments of documents which have already been posted.

Note

Down payments represent a payable or a receivable for a customer. Therefore you can also assign down payments to profit centers. As postings for down payments do not reference an invoice, the system cannot assign them automatically to profit centers. However, you can enter the profit center manually on the corresponding assignment screen. The system then posts the down payment through to the assigned profit center. If you allocate the down payment, the system also posts this to Profit Center Accounting.

Note that an account that has been selected as an additional balance sheet or profit and loss account for transferring to Profit Center Accounting is not transferred when you run the transfer upon period-end closing. As you are assigning the down payments directly to a profit center, it is logical to set online transfer for the accounts to which they belong. If you do this, these accounts will not be transferred when you next run the transfer, thus avoiding double transfer.
