Parameter Symbol

Definition

Symbol of the report symbol type Parameter (see Symbol Type Parameter). The report symbol type Parameter is divided in Customizing into report symbol groups and thereby specified as a placeholder for certain application objects.

Use

Symbols of the symbol type Parameter are used in report templates as placeholders for data that does not originate from the specification database. If the value does not exist in the database, the symbol is replaced in the report by a blank value.

Default parameter values are determined for parameter symbols by assigning determination function modules depending on the report symbol groups (see Default Parameter Value Determination).

In multistage report generation, the report symbols of the type Parameter are expanded in the transition from a report body to the final report.

In the standard system there are also symbols of the type Symbol and Phrase. In multistage report generation, the symbols are expanded here at the transition from the report template to the report body.
