Importing Sources
Prerequisites
See the Prerequisites section under
Import: Process.
Procedure
In the Product Safety menu, choose Data transfer ® Sources.
The Import Sources: Parameters screen appears:
If you have defined an exchange profile in Customizing for Product Safety, enter the key for the exchange profile and choose .
The settings in the exchange profile are transferred.
Make sure that the path and file name for the transfer file and directory on the application server have been entered in the File with path field.

The SAP System checks the transfer file and determines the sources to be created and changed.

. Select the log for your transfer file, choose (Goto ® Display messages) and check any error messages there.
To correct the transfer file, choose Data transfer
® Download file in the Product Safety menu. Make the changes in an ASCII editor and then choose Data transfer ® Upload file.
- On the initial screen for source import, choose .
A dialog box appears in which you can set the start date. After you have saved your data, the SAP System starts the data transfer for the start date specified.
To check the procedure, choose Data transfer
® Check transfer ® Sources in the Product Safety menu.
- On the initial screen for source import, choose Direct-Import, to display the log for the database update.
Then choose , select the log for your transfer file, and choose Job log. The system generates a list of all messages for the background job.
Evaluate the messages and make the necessary corrections.
Result
The system overwrites old sources.
New sources are added.
Sources that already exist and were not imported again are retained (the sources are not deleted, as they may have been used in value assignments).
After the import, you can check sources in
Source Management.
