One character corresponds to one column,
Blank columns are filled with blanks (
+BC must be followed by three blanks, for example, and then further data is entered from column 7 onwards).

Continued lines are joined together without separators. If a blank space is between the lines, this will appear as the first character in the continued line (column 7).
