Variable
Definition
A parameter of a report or form, which you specify when defining or executing a report.
In drilldown reporting of SAP Consolidation you can create global variables for some of the standard characteristics, thus simplifying the handling of drilldown reporting considerably.
For more information, see
Variables in the general drilldown documentation, and also
Defining Global Variables in the Implementation Guide for Consolidation.
Use
You use a local variable if it is only used in a specific report or form. However, you use global variables if you want them to be available in all reports or forms.
Structure
SAP Consolidation features several types and categories of variable, which you can use depending on how often they are needed or reused, and which specific drilldown goals are to be achieved.

You can use the following variable categories in your forms and reports:
These variables are only defined in reports that use formulas and in the form itself. Substitution occurs when the report is executed. You can use formula variables, for example, as an easy way of portraying simulations and projections.
