Use
After you have created the costing run, you can select the materials to be costed. How you select the materials depends on whether you are using closed BOMs (which are not configurable) or open BOMs (configurable).
For materials that are often produced in the same way, BOMs and routings for each material are defined in Production Planning (PP).
For multivariant products, BOMs and routings are defined in Production Planning (PP) for what is called a standard product. You create a material master record that refers to the standard product for every variant of the standard product. You create a BOM and routing for the standard product. You also define dependencies between the different components in the BOM and the activities in the routing. On the basis of these dependencies, the system can determine precisely which BOM components and routing activities are required to produce the variant.
Prerequisites
You have
created the costing run.Procedure
The screen Costing Run: Selection - Change Parameters appears.
In the costing run, you can use the transfer control ID to specify whether existing cost estimates are transferred for certain materials. This allows you to prevent materials that have already been costed from being selected for costing again. To be able to recost all materials in the BOM, select the Always Recost Material indicator for the selection. This restricts the transfer control function.
If you are using open BOMs, you must carry out the flow step Selection to select the configured materials in a plant. Standard products have the material type KMAT and cannot be costed.
The BOM for a configured material does not usually consist of configured materials only. To increase performance, you can do the following:
If you want to cost online, deselect the Background Processing indicator. For more information, see
This returns you to the Edit Costing Run screen.
After selecting the materials, you can call up a list of the materials and their data (such as the plant and costing lot size) by choosing
If you have selected Background Processing, the materials are not selected. Instead, the system displays the dialog box Background Processing: Job Parameters. Enter the start date and other start criteria for the background job here.
Choose Copy to schedule or start the job. Choose Goto ® Job Overview to go to an overview of all background jobs.
To access the
Schedule Manager, choose Goto ® Schedule Manager.Result
When the selection has been run, you see the status, the number of materials selected, and the number of materials selected with errors for this flow step.
To check all the messages that occurred during the selection, choose (quick info text Display Log). The
message log provides an overview of the results of the material selection and the option to prevent potential errors before carrying out further steps.See also:
