Use

You can use data archiving to reorganize transaction data that has been posted to costing-based and to account-based Profitability Analysis. You can use it to store legacy data that is no longer required in the system and to delete erroneous data or test data.

Features

Archiving includes the following functions:

In the information system within Profitability Analysis, you can define reports that access the archived data.

Archiving can be performed for the following types of data:

For more information, see the section Structure link Archiving CO-PA Transaction Data.

Activities

Call up archiving in the CO-PA application menu by choosing Tools ® Archiving. Here you can execute the different functions described above.

The procedures for executing the functions can be found in the following sections of the Structure link Archiving in Controlling documentation:

If you wish to display archived data in a report to compare, for example, current data against legacy data, you have to select the "Read archived data also" option in the Options tab page when you create the report. For more information, see the section Defining Profitability Reports.

Caution

Archived data is displayed in the report without any particular flag. This means that the reports looks as if no data has yet been archived. If you are using archiving as a means of deleting erroneous data or test data, these two types of data are also displayed in the report along with the "genuine" data.
