This parameter specifies the size of the overflow area in bytes. CPIC requests are written to the overflow area when the limit gw/max_shm_req_per_conn for a CPIC connection is reached. The gateway allocates local process memory for this overflow area.

Many clients that can send their data faster than the receivers can take reception of it.

The gateway allocates local process memory, that is, more swap space is required. Approximately 200 KB is required per fast client (for more information, see Memory Management of the SAP Gateway).
