Setting the Parameters to Control the DSR Collector

Statistical data for non-SAP R/3 systems (Distributed Statistics Records, DSR) are first collected in the components themselves and then transferred using a CCMS Agent to the monitoring system with which the agent is registered. In this system, the data is further processed, aggregated and stored in a performance database. This is performed using various component collectors that each process the statistical data for one component.

• You can decide whether the first aggregation of the DSR statistical data should be generated by the agent or by the component collector. By default, the agent generates the preaggregate. If the load created by this on the agent’s host is too high, you can have the preaggregate generated by the component collector in the monitoring system.
• You can define the maximum number of statistics records that the collector can process per run. By default, this parameter has the value 20000. A restriction of this number is necessary, as the component collector runs in a dialog work process and its maximum runtime is therefore restricted.
• You can define the retention period of the statistics files (by default, 48 hours). This is the raw data that is stored locally in the relevant components. You can use it to perform an analysis of the Last Minutes Load for exactly this time period.
• You can define the retention period of the Logs of the Collector Runs. By default, the logs are stored for 14 days.
• You can set the degree to which the various component collectors should be run in parallel. To do this, enter the name of an RFC server group that determines the degree to which processing can be run in parallel using the number of application servers and various other setting options. You can maintain RFC server groups in transaction RZ12.

1. Start the Global Workload Monitor by calling transaction ST03G.
2. Expand the Distributed Statistics Records subtree in the Control Data tree.
3. Choose the General Control of Collector entry by double clicking it.
4. The system displays the Parameters for Controlling DSR Collector screen. In an ALV Grid Control, the system displays at least one line for each possible parameter with a description of the parameter in the column Comment for a DSR Parameter. Use the other columns to make your changes:

Column	Description
Consumer Name	Object to which the parameter refers; either the name of an agent or a component type (for the retention time of the logs and the name of the RFC server group, the column remains empty, as these parameters apply globally)
ParValue	Value and unit of the parameters; to set a parameter, enter the value X in the ParValue column.

5. To assign another value to a parameter for a different Consumer, choose Duplicate Row () and make the desired changes there.
6. To delete a line, choose Delete ()
7. Save your entries.
